Stretch Ceilings

Questions about tensioned fabric can vary depending on your prior knowledge of our solutions. We’ve listed some of the main questions our customers often have when working with Tensoflex®.

First, a brief explanation of how our screen installation system works:

Stretch Ceilings are a lighting and interior design solution made from flexible plastic films with high molecular memory and flame retardant additives. Due to its composition it is an excellent option for diffusing light, closing off niches and decorating any kind of space.

By other hand, the Tensoflex® system combines all these advantages with aluminum profiles specially designed to meet the exact needs of each project. As such, all the profiles are designed to perfectly fit the Stretch Ceilings, which can be used in walls, ceilings, metal structures, plaster niches and other surfaces. Generally, the profiles are fixed by screwing or gluing around the perimeter and the installers finish the Stretch Ceilings once the lighting has been completed.

In summary, now that you know the basics about our products, check out the main questions our customers often have when specifying Stretch Ceilings in their projects.

1) How does the lighting on Translucent Stretch Ceilings work?

To generate a specific lighting effect, better known as the “skylight effect” or homogeneous lighting, installers place the Stretch Ceilings at the bottom of the niche, illuminated by LED strips or LED tube lights. Based on project specifications and lighting requirements, our team can confirm if quantity, power and color temperature are correct.

There is also the option of perimeter lighting, which generates a graded light, stronger at the edges of the surface and dimmed towards the center. This light is more decorative than functional.

2) What are the advantages of Stretch Ceilings compared to other materials?

Design flexibility

One of the greatest advantages of Stretch Ceilings is the liberty of creation. As the material is highly flexible and can be molded into various shapes, a wide variety of unique projects can be developed. They can also be printed with any high resolution image or logo, allowing greater project customization.

Low weight and easy to install

Stretch Ceilings are very light compared to other materials such as acrylic panels, laminated glass plates, transparent resin plates. Installation is then much more practical and faster, which can significantly reduce labor costs and project completion time. Above all, Stretch Ceilings can be installed on virtually any surface, including curved walls.

Durability

Stretch Ceilings are antistatic, so they prevent accumulation of dust and dirt. Cleaning is also very simple and film texture does not change over time with a 10-year guarantee.

3) Is it possible to remove or replace Stretch Ceilings without having to call Tensoflex?

Yes! For small and medium-sized translucent screens, the main option is the Removable System, where the customer has total control over opening and closing the screen, simply and without the need for special accessories or equipment.

In the case of Fixed System projects, we offer technical assistance services. In addition, our teams are available for technical support visits on request and by appointment.

4) How does the Stretch Ceilings estimate work at Tensoflex?

For regular estimates, our experts need some information:

– Contact details of the person in charge of the project: name, phone number and email address, so that our technical department can get back to you if there are any doubts.

– Project technical files: preferably in DWG or PDF formats

– Location of the installation: City and State

– Confirmation whether lighting elements should be included in the estimate: if so, please confirm if lighting distribution will be homogeneous or perimeter. If homogeneous, niche depth is very importante and LED strips specifications too.

– Additional information: you can send more guidelines and project details. Remember that if you don’t have any of the above information, you can always call our experts.

5) How do you work with Printed Stretch Ceilings in your project?

Using high-resolution custom printing and high-performance LEDs, our Visual Merchandising division is an excellent tool for creating high-impact spaces.

Tensoflex® printed Stretch Ceilings have almost infinite possibilities for bringing the most ambitious creations to life.

For Stretch Ceilings printing, the image file must be developed with a minimum of 300dpi, at real printing format.

6) How Tensoflex® Acoustic Stretch Ceilings work

The introduction of perforations of controlled diameter and spacing over the plastic film transforms the Tensoflex® system into an important sound absorber. It manages to add acoustic comfort to all its aesthetic and functional advantages.

The introduction of fiber or PET foam in the assembly enhances sound absorption characteristics, according to results obtained in the laboratory.

It is important to note that acoustic Stretch Ceilings help to improve the sound quality of environments such as restaurants and food courts, but they do not provide sound insulation.

7) What are the main possibilities for using Stretch Ceilings in architectural and Lighting projects?

Ceilings and coverings: They can be used as ceilings and cladding in interior environments, providing a contemporary and sophisticated aesthetic.

Integrated lighting: Allows you to integrate built-in lighting systems, such as LED or tuboled lamps, creating customized lighting effects.

Visual merchandising: With a wide range of aluminum profiles, shapes and finishes available, along with high-resolution custom printing capabilities and high-quality LEDs, the opportunities for carrying out ambitious point-of-sale, retail and decoration projects are virtually limitless.
